Dr Gëzim Alpion's new play If Only the Dead Could Listen
received its world premiere at the MAC Theatre in Cannon Hill Park
in Birmingham on 7 and 8 February 2006.
The play was staged by Dreamscape Theatre Company, directed by Marcus Fernando and Duska Heaney.
The event was sponsored by the Arts Council
England ACE) and the
Birmingham and Midland Institute BMI).
Like Dr Alpion's tragedy Vouchers (2001), which received its first performed rehearsed reading at the Festival of Contemporary European Plays in Huddersfield in March 2002, the new play is about the treatment of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.
